Operations
Our primary response area is all
of Waterford
Township, along with parts of
Chesilhurst Borough where response is shared with
Winslow
Township. In total, we
cover approximately 38 square miles along with 12,500 citizens. During the summer months, the
population in the area swells due to shore traffic passing through, as
well as events that are held at the Atco Raceway.
Both ambulances, 2316 and 2317, are licensed by the State of
New Jersey DOH – OEMS, and
carry all the required equipment mandated by the state to operate at the
basic life support level. At
all times when in service, our ambulances are staffed with at least two
certified EMT – Basics.
Occasionally, we have a third or a driver to assist the crew on
certain calls.
In
addition, we have two support vehicles, Command 1 and Command 2 which are
staffed by our Chief and Deputy Chief respectively. These vehicles are equipped with
basic first response equipment to provide aid prior to the arrival of an
ambulance. Both vehicles are
also capable of supporting incident command in the event of a large
scale incident.
During the week from Sunday to Thursday
we have a paid in house duty crew from
6AM to 12
Midnight which is responsible for all response requests. From
12 Midnight to 6AM, we have a volunteer duty crew which is
responsible for response.
Friday and Saturday is covered 24 hours by a paid in house duty
crew. All
crews whether paid or volunteer have the same responsibilities, and are
all equally accountable for the services they
provide.
